Gates and Bezos Back Synchron: A Challenge to Neuralink
Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos have invested in Synchron, a brain-computer interface (BCI) startup, aiming to develop technology to help individuals with paralysis communicate by controlling devices using their thoughts.
Unlike Elon Musk’s Neuralink, which requires drilling into the skull to implant electrodes in the brain, Synchron uses a less invasive approach by threading its "Stentrode" device through the bloodstream to the brain.
This drill-free technique is seen as a safer alternative, potentially accelerating human trials and offering a viable competitor to Neuralink's more invasive model.
